| Hip & Hippie was created by Deann and Julie Walterscheid, two Texas sisters of German-American descent. Their parents raised them in a small country community and taught them how to work hard, appreciate the small things and to love life. Their grandmothers, aunts, and mother instilled in them nature-first remedies and hands on learning about the best natural approaches to living life and raising healthy families. Their knowledge acquired since childhood, launched a company on the cutting edge of unique, high quality, natural, earth friendly, and planet loving products.
In 2003, the Walterscheid Sisters were an overnight success with their Soy Beam Inc. and 2Divine private label products. The demand for their products quickly outgrew their kitchen stoves and tables and they relocated to a production facility in Dallas, Texas to service a constant stream of orders that came through word-of-mouth. After endless requests, the sisters embarked on launching yet another line, Hip & Hippie.
Deann, the older sister, spent over 15 years as a healthy living consultant and organic foods chef, working in Texas, Arizona and California. She specialized in organic whole food preparation, non-toxic and environmentally supportive "green" renovating techniques, recycling, and natural safe product care for children and adults. Using her many years of personal experience and professional knowledge, Deann has made it her mission to help improve the quality of life for women and their families.
Julie has been an esthetician for more than 15 years, and has worked in world-class luxury spas, while also pursuing a career as a freelance graphic artist. As a national award-winning graphic artist with multiple awards to her credit, she has worked to create the right brand and image for clients across the United States for more than 10 years. With her combined professional background in the service industry and the graphic arts, Julie has dedicated herself to creating distinctive personalization to accommodate each of her client's demands.
With continued support and encouragement from their family, as well as Deann and Julie's own passion and talent to support the well-being of our earth and people, a planet-loving company was born.
